NATIC adds Margaret E. Redman as national commercial services director and senior regional underwriting counsel

MIAMI – July 12, 2021 – North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC) has appointed Margaret Redman as director of national commercial services and senior regional underwriting counsel. Redman will serve as the single point of contact for national commercial agents and help NATIC continue its successful exchanges with industry regulators. In addition, as NATIC prepares to launch its operations in New York, Redman will make connections with clients and commercial customers for the benefit of the underwriter’s independent agents.
Redman began her career practicing commercial real estate law at various firms in Atlanta before relocating to California to take a position in the title insurance industry. She first served as vice president and senior corporate counsel and reinsurance counsel, then vice president of business development, at two of the nation’s top title insurance underwriters.
Redman’s broad depth of knowledge in the title industry spans regulatory matters, reinsurance, national commercial transactions, agent education and support, sales and account management. By educating clients on the benefits of establishing a professional reinsurance program, she created less reliance on intra-industry reinsurance. Her counseling reinsurers on title insurance risk resulted in reduced reinsurance costs. In addition, she successfully lobbied to increase title insurers’ single-risk limits in four states without any “no” votes.
“As NATIC rebrands its name to Doma and we prepare to go public, Margaret will be an asset to all of our growth plans and bring innovative plans to our underwriting business unit,” said Valerie Jahn-Grandin, NATIC’s executive vice president and chief underwriting counsel. “She knows how to look past the status quo and determine how we can make real estate transactions faster and frictionless for our agents, affiliates and customers – a critical skill in the technology-driven segment of our industry. In addition, Margaret’s experience in the national market, talent in working with regulators and extensive lobbying efforts position her to affect changes for our agents in both their local and national markets.”
Redman earned her undergraduate degree in political science with honors from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and her juris doctorate from Florida State University in Tallahassee.
“I am excited to bring my experience in evaluating and resolving complex legal challenges to NATIC and Doma as the company establishes operations in New York,” Redman said. “I’m a passionate leader who believes in the power of teamwork, integrity and accountability, and I look forward to continuing my work as an effective change agent in the title industry.”
