Doma taps Lony-Ann Sheehan as Northeast regional underwriting counsel as it expands its New England footprint

MIAMI – March 18, 2022 – Doma Title Insurance, Inc. (fka North American Title Insurance Company) has appointed Lony-Ann Sheehan as underwriting counsel for the Northeast Region. In this new area of expansion for Doma, Lony-Ann will provide underwriting and agency management support to independent title agents and attorneys in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Sheehan comes to Doma from a real estate law firm in Massachusetts, where she served as senior title attorney. Prior to that position, Sheehan served as a closing attorney and associate attorney for two other law firms, where she represented lenders and buyers in conventional real estate closings and corporate sellers in real estate owned (REO) closings.

“With more than 15 years of experience in real estate transactions and as a practicing attorney, Lony-Ann will be able to assist our agents with efficient and customer-centric underwriting support,” said Sara Valenz, Doma Vice President and Deputy Underwriting Counsel. “Her strong understanding of the title agent’s needs and the legal knowledge necessary to assess risk in underwriting will position us as a leading title insurance underwriter in the Northeast Region.”

Sheehan graduated magna cum laude from Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School in Newton, Massachusetts, graduating with cum-laude honors. Sheehan is a member of the Real Estate Bar Association (REBA) for Massachusetts.

“I am looking forward to playing an important role in Doma’s expansion into the New England market,” Sheehan said. “My recent position as a senior title attorney at a thriving Massachusetts law firm gives me the ability to anticipate our agents’ greatest needs and priorities, while my prior position in the REO department of a busy default servicing firm have provided me with a wealth of experience in reviewing titles and resolving complex title issues.”

Sheehan works from a field office in the Boston area and can be reached by telephone at (617) 905-5822 or by email at lony-ann.sheehan@doma.com.
