NATIC appoints Sheila Thiele as Associate National Underwriting and Expansion Counsel

MIAMI – August 18, 2021 – North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC) has added Sheila Thiele to its underwriting team. Serving as associate national underwriting and expansion counsel, Thiele assists NATIC/Doma’s national underwriting and state expansion team with underwriting, regulatory and compliance matters for NATIC/Doma’s national affiliated title agent.
Thiele brings 15 years of legal experience to her position. Most recently, she served as in-house underwriting counsel for a national title insurance agent, specializing in real estate owned (REO) foreclosure sales, residential refinance, reverse mortgages and commercial transactions. She previously served as associate counsel for a top national title insurance underwriter and as an attorney for two Kansas City area law firms, representing clients in small and large residential and commercial real estate transactions and civil litigation.
“Sheila’s 10 years of national title insurance experience working in high-volume and frequently high-stress environments translates into stellar critical thinking on complex issues, prompt responses, attention to detail and the ability to meet short deadlines,” said David Jenkins, national underwriting and expansion counsel for NATIC/Doma. “She will be an integral addition to our team, helping to research and prepare regulatory and compliant training materials and answer underwriting questions for our affiliated title agent.”
Thiele graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and earned her juris doctor degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. She also earned a master’s degree in public administration from Bellevue University.
“I’m excited to work with our team as we move into new states with technology-driven title products,” Thiele said. “It’s a pleasure to be part of the positive, forward-thinking progress that NATIC/Doma is making at such an innovative time in the title industry.”
